The Church was built
in 1863 and is a typical example of polychromatic Italianate style
of architecture. A large Sunday School banner, (1864), hangs on display
inside the Church and is in exceptionally good condition
|

The first Boys Brigade
in Wales was started in this church by Mr George Philip Reynolds in
1887 and there is a marble plaque commemorating his life's work on
one inside wall.

Outside the church, on the
North Street side is a blue plaque depicting the birth of the Boys
Brigade in Newport.

|
The church is a grade 2 listed building and is situated just outside
the Stow Hill conservation area.
